Hey! I'm Sagarnil Das and I'm a Gradient Guru with Experience Replay.

I've always been a curious soul with a knack for creativity. Back in school, I was on the cricket field chasing dreams (and cricket balls). Fast forward to college, I discovered my love for music—singing my heart out and strumming away on my guitar became my creative escape. I became an ape-shit crazy fan of Dream Theater.

It wasn’t until 2013 that I stumbled into the world of coding, and let’s just say, it was love at first debug. Now, I’m a machine learning mad-hatter blending logic and creativity to solve complex problems.

When I’m not wrangling data or building AI models, you’ll find me jamming on my guitar or roaming around the streets doing street photography or videography. Who says you can’t mix algorithms with melodies?

Here's a timeline of what I've been up to:

2024

Hollywood Debut: My first short film - 'A Fractal Mind' gets selected for the Best Hollywood Day Short Film Festival 2024, making its grand entrance into Hollywood!
AI Innovations Continue: Leading Artelus as CTO, pushing the boundaries of AI in healthcare. Who knows, maybe building the next AI revolution?
Quantum Aspirations: Decided to take a deep dive into Quantum Physics. Who knows, maybe I'll finally get to understand if the cat died yet.

2023

Joined Artelus as CTO: Took the helm as Director and Chief Technology Officer, diving deep into AI solutions for healthcare.
Groundbreaking NHS Collaboration: Partnered with the NHS on a pioneering study for AI retinal image analysis. Made some friends across the pond!
Mentorship: Started mentoring aspiring data scientists and filmmakers. Sharing knowledge because sharing is caring.

2022

Founded CyberDeck: Launched my first startup, a no-code platform for end-to-end Data Science and Machine Learning. Realized startups are 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration.
The Facebook Saga: Cracked the Facebook interview, but due to a hiring freeze, couldn't join.

2021

Award-Winning Filmmaker: My first short film 'A Fractal Mind' won the 10th Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Best Cinematography at the 9th Kolkata International Short Film Festival, and the 5th Indian World Film Festival. You can find it on Youtube.
Filmmaking Adventures: Explored the world of filmmaking. Confirmed that juggling cameras is harder than juggling data.

2020

Lead Data Scientist at Hopscotch: Matched customers with products using advanced machine learning models.
Margin Magician: Improved company margins significantly. Proved that numbers do make the world go round.
Robotics Experimentation: Began more tinkering with robotics and deep reinforcement learning. Tried not to accidentally create Skynet.

2019

Filmmaking Projects: Started working on personal filmmaking endeavors, blending technology with storytelling. Made a short documentary on Durga Puja in Kolkata. Search for 'Tritiyo Noyon' on Youtube.
Writing Journey: Authored an article titled 'Fear Is Good, Pain Is Good, It’s All Good', sharing personal experiences and insights.

2018

AI Innovations at Tathastu: Continued to lead data science initiatives, developing advanced deep learning models for retail.
Innovation Award: Received company recognition for groundbreaking AI solutions. Celebrated with an extra cup of coffee.
Photography Hobby: Continued dabbling in photography, capturing moments one click at a time. Got two more publications in Nat Geo Traveller India.
Published Research on Robotics: Published two solo papers 'Robot Localization in a Mapped Environment Using Adaptive Monte Carlo Algorithm' and 'Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) using RTAB-Map' in an international journal.

2017

Returned to India: Returned to India and hugged my parents after 5 years. Realized that home is where the heart is.
First Nat Geo Publication: Picked up a camera, and before I knew it, got published in National Geographic. Parents were proud!
Climbing the Ladder: Got a job as the Manager of the Data Science Team at Tathastu. More meetings on the calendar, less coding on the screen.

2016

Senior Data Specialist at NY State Dept. of Health: Survived the cold winters of Albany and the challenges of healthcare data and got promoted to Senior Data Specialist.
Mastered Data Migration: Led a massive data migration project. Learned that moving terabytes of data requires lots of coffee.

2015

Junior Data Specialist at NY State Dept. of Health: Joined as a Junior Data Specialist, diving headfirst into the world of big data.
Anomaly Detector: Developed an uncanny ability to spot anomalies in datasets—and the best local coffee shops.

2014

Journey Begins: Got my first job in Computer Science Corporation in the chilly winters of Albany. Worked on the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) project, developing systems that provided healthcare services to 32 million Americans. Proud to have been part of a project that made a real difference in people's lives.
Data Management Expertise: Enhanced database systems to support large-scale healthcare applications. Realized that healthcare data is as complex as it is vital.

2013

NASA Project Contribution: Worked on a NASA-funded project involving Thermal Barrier Coatings. Contributed to space technology advancements.
Life's Turning Point: Faced a significant funding crunch which led to relinquishing my Dean's Fellowship and Ph.D. pursuit at the University of Central Florida. Accepted a Master's degree instead. This challenging period taught me resilience and adaptability.
Bartending Nights: Began semi-professional bartending to support myself financially. Perfected cocktails like the flaming Lamborghini. Discovered that mixing drinks is both art and science.
Street Magic Performances: Started learning and performing street magic with three magician friends. Entertained huge crowds, bringing wonder and smiles during tough times. Magic became a metaphor for turning hardships into moments of joy.

2011

Academic Honors: Received the prestigious 'Dean's Fellowship.' Started my Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Central Florida.
Undergraduate Degree: Graduated with a BE in Metallurgical and Materials Science from Jadavpur University.
